The Magic Behind the Books

Hello. Welcome.

I am Farah Sam — an author, illustrator, mother of three, and lifelong collector of small everyday magic.

My work is shaped by imagination, humour, and a deep love for the quiet moments that often mean the most — a curious question, a bedtime story, a burst of laughter, a gentle adventure, or the kind of wonder children seem to find everywhere.

Through delightful illustrations and heartfelt storytelling, I create books that feel both personal and universal, inviting readers into gentle worlds filled with connection, courage, curiosity, and quiet enchantment.

Whether I am writing children’s adventures, reflective stories, or character-filled worlds, my intention remains the same: to create stories that comfort, uplift, and remind readers of the beauty, humour, and magic already woven into life.

And I firmly believe that coconut improves almost everything.

What once existed only in notebooks, daydreams, and late-night thoughts is becoming a growing collection of books filled with imagination, heart, and hope. Creating them has become one of the greatest joys of my life.

I believe stories are gentle bridges between a child's inner world and the wider world around them. They help us explore courage, kindness, friendship, belonging, curiosity, and possibility in ways that feel both comforting and magical.

Illustration is just as important to me as words. A single image can express feelings that language sometimes cannot. Perhaps that is why creating beautifully illustrated books feels so natural to me—it is another way of telling stories, one that speaks quietly to the imagination.

My hope is that these books become little places of wonder, where children—and perhaps the grown-ups reading beside them—can laugh, dream, feel understood, and discover that there is always a little magic waiting to be found in everyday life.

Thank you for being here.

I truly hope you enjoy these stories.

With love,

Farah Sam

I have always loved stories.

From around the age of nine, when language and speaking began to become clearer for me, I started reading everything I could get my hands on. Books opened worlds I could step into completely. They gave me adventure, wonder, imagination, and a lifelong love of storytelling.

For years, my own stories lived quietly inside notebooks and boxes filled with ideas—unfinished characters, poems, scenes, and little sparks of imagination that I somehow trusted would matter one day.

Many of those ideas stayed with me for decades.

Motherhood soon became the centre of my life, as it still is today. Raising my children, especially my youngest daughter, meant that my creative dreams often had to wait. Caring for a child with additional needs is a full-time journey of patience, love, and presence, and writing often had to fit into the smallest moments between everyday life.

Even so, I never stopped thinking about stories.

Some were inspired by my youngest daughter. Although she may not experience these worlds in the same way as other children, every page has been created with the hope that one day she will feel the joy, colour, warmth, and wonder within them.

Others grew from the personalities of my older children, our family adventures, and my own enduring sense of curiosity about mystery, humour, friendship, and the extraordinary hidden within ordinary life.

Living in different countries and experiencing new cultures further enriched my imagination. Every place, every conversation, and every season added another thread to the stories I had been quietly gathering throughout my life.

Eventually, I realised I did not need perfect circumstances to begin. I simply needed to begin.

Now, as I approach fifty, I have finally given those ideas the life they always deserved.
