Max’s Diary-Style Journal Entry

June 17th — Evening, The Pyramid Tent The grand hunt has come to a splendid end! All seven Sparkly Sisters gathered beside the mighty Pyramids, looking wonderfully happy to be together at last. It was a proper bustle of hats, scarves, and merry voices. Granny Maple lined us up for a photograph.

“Say baba ganoush, everyone!” she cried with a bright twinkle in her eye.

Everyone laughed at once, even the camels outside! Baba ganoush is a delicious dip made from eggplants, and it is simply smashing with a bit of warm flatbread. Afterward, we had a delightful tea party in a big, stripy tent that felt very snug and happy. To celebrate the full journey, the aunts gave us beautiful farewell items: a leather-bound pen case from Cleo, a brass compass from Helena, mineral paints from Ariadne, and my iron key from Scheherazade was checked over.

Tilly was sitting on a cushion, giggling and eating dates. She looked at the seven sisters laughing together and whispered to me, "Max, seven sisters are like seven notes in a song. They sound different, but they make a perfect tune." I lowered my flatbread. That was far too wise for a girl who had jam on her collar. It is highly concerning.

Sir Bark-A-Lot sat beside the table looking frightfully serious; he had appointed himself Chief Olive Inspector. He watched every plate with great care until he suddenly lunged and stole a piece of halloumi cheese right off Aunt Cleo’s fork, causing her to roar with laughter.

This is a very successful feast.

Remarkably filling.

Crumbs. The dog has absolutely no respect for seniority.

Explorer’s Notes

  • OFFICIAL LOG: Culinary inventory and photographic confirmation of sisters.

  • Menu: Grilled halloumi, fresh hummus, flatbread, and honey dates. Top-hole grub.

  • Tilly’s Fingerprints: Found a sticky date outline on page 22 of my logbook. Frightful girl.
